What is Earth Day and How We Support It April 23 2018, 0 Comments

The story of Earth Day will not be complete without the mention of April 22, 1970. On this day, a movement where millions of people took to the streets globally in protest of the destruction of over a century of industrial development. Even though it originated in the United States, Earth day has become a global event in which around 1 billion people participate in every year.

From the first time, it was celebrated in 1970, April 22 has become a date when women, men, and children plant trees to combat deforestation, collect garbage, show environmental movies, sign environmental petitions, and plan for a better Earth.

Earth Day reminds us of our deep connection with the environment and the need to ensure a clean environment. It is also intended to remind us to have a green state of mind, which will guide us in how we treat the Earth as individuals, groups, businesses, and as a government.

The fight for a sustainable Earth is the focus of the Earth day. The ravages of climate change are evident all around us, therefore urgent actions have to be taken to combat its effects. Problems like the depletion of the ozone layer, the increase in endangered animal species, and its effect on human race should be the interest of all.

At Patagonia Legacy, the environment is very important to us since trees are our livelihood. All of our wood is harvested under strict sustainable management plans enforced by Chile's eco-friendly government. We are proud to be founding members of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. Our mutual mission is to promote sustainable practices within the home furnishings industry.
